Pre-Treatment
Before your treatment please avoid the following:
1 month before: Avoid vaccinations
2 weeks before: If possible, avoid blood thinning and anti-inflammatory medications (e.g. aspirin, fish oil, ibuprofen, nurofen) unless recommended by your regular doctor.
2 days before: Do not use active skin care products such as AHA, Tretinoin (Retin-A), Retinols, Vitamin C, Glycolic Acid or any “anti-aging” skin care products.
24 hours before: Avoid strenuous exercise, Avoid alcohol, Avoid waxing, bleaching, tweezing or using hair removal creams on the area, Avoid Gingko Biloba, primrose oil, garlic, ginseng and vitamin E, Do not expose the area to intense heat (e.g. solarium or sauna).
Things to be aware of:
If you have previously suffered from cold sores, lip treatments may trigger a cold sore outbreak. We recommend not having treatment if you have an active cold sore. If you do not have an active cold sore but are prone to getting them, we recommend commencing anti-viral medication in tablet form before your appointment to reduce the risk of an outbreak. These medications do not usually require a prescription and you can discuss with your local pharmacist or doctor about commencing this prior to your lip treatment.
Day of Treatment
- Please arrive 5 minutes before your treatment to allow time for your paperwork to be filled out.
- Arrive with a clean face and no make-up if possible.
Pain Relief Options
At Age Reduxion Clinic, we aim to make your experience as comfortable as possible. During your consultation, our team will take the time to understand your concerns, discuss your preferences, and explain the options available to help support comfort during procedures where appropriate.
Below are some of the comfort measures that may be used during certain treatments.
Topical Numbing Cream
A topical numbing cream may be applied to the treatment area prior to some procedures to help reduce sensitivity in the skin.
Ice (Contour Cube)
Cooling the skin using ice may be used before or during certain procedures to help soothe the area and support comfort during treatment.
Face Vibration Tool
A handheld vibration device may be used during some treatments. The gentle vibrations can provide a distracting sensory stimulus that may help reduce awareness of the procedure.
Additional Comfort Options
In some situations, additional comfort options may be available during certain procedures. These may include short-acting inhaled analgesia or injected local anaesthetic administered under medical supervision where appropriate. Suitability for these options is assessed by the treating practitioner during your consultation, taking into account your medical history and individual circumstances. If you have previously experienced side effects with local anaesthetic, please notify your doctor before any treatment.
Post-Treatment
Following any cosmetic procedure, it is possible to experience temporary reactions in the treatment area. These may include tenderness, redness, swelling, bruising, itching, or small needle puncture marks. These effects are generally temporary and typically settle over time.
Recovery experiences can vary between individuals and depend on the procedure performed, the area treated, and individual factors.
Your practitioner will provide you with specific aftercare instructions following your treatment. It is important to follow the advice provided by your treating practitioner, as recommendations may vary depending on the procedure performed.
General Aftercare Guidance
While specific instructions will be provided after your treatment, the following general measures may be recommended:
- Avoid lying flat or bending forward for several hours following treatment where advised.
- Avoid applying makeup to the treated area for several hours unless otherwise directed.
- Avoid strenuous exercise and alcohol for at least 24 hours.
